I will never forget her kindness and words of encouragement. She was  my mentor and someone I could go to. She gave me strength when I had none. I will miss her deeply.

Lorraine was my nurseing school instructor, and I cannot express fully the impact she made on my life. Any time she took command of a room, or you sat down to speak with her, it was almost like you involuntarily took a calming breath. Things always seemed hopeful and as if they would all work out after interacting with her. I hit a rough patch or two during nursing school, as I’m sure most nursing students can relate to, and Lorraine was always my confidant. She offered honest, kind words and always seemed to emotionally help me dust myself off and continue on. She was truly a wonderful human being, the model of the ideal nurse; compassionate, nurturing and empathetic. She remained all those things unwaveringly even when she wasn’t feeling well herself. I feel so fortunate that Lorraine was brought into my life, and I’ll remember her fondly always. I honestly don’t know if I would have become a nurse without her, and I certainly wouldn’t be the nurse I am today without her influence. Thank you Lorraine, and thank you to her family for sharing her with Palomar!

I was a student of Lorraine’s and I consider her my mentor. I was drawn to her positive spirit immediately and considered her class in first semester my “therapy session .”  She supported me tremendously throughout  the nursing program.

In my final semester of the program, I was diagnosed with colon cancer. I kept it a secret but I confided in Lorraine, who was also battling cancer.  She stepped it up with her support and encouraged me until the end of the program. Just a few days after graduation, I had my first of many surgeries and hospitalizations and Lorraine was there to support me in the hospital, even though she wasn’t feeling well herself. 

Even when her cancer worsened and mine improved, she continued to encourage and support me, frequently checking in with me. I will never forget one day when we were having lunch at the beach. She told me to stop feeling sorry for myself and to move on with my life. If anybody else would have said that to me, I would have been extremely angry. But Lorraine said it in a way that was tough, yet loving, and I instantly  broke down in tears and changed my complete attitude that very day. 

I will miss Lorraine so much. She ended up being like a big sister to me and I only hope to be a fraction of the nurse that she was. 



I had the delightful experience of working  with Lorraine when she started at Palomar College.  Her positive attitude and dedication to the students was inspiring.  She was a wonderful nurse, teacher, and human being.  Over the years she has made a tremendous difference in the lives of her family, patients, students, and everyone who has known her.  She will be missed ... but her light will continue to shine through others!  Thank you for sharing her with me!


We were the Pagni's neighbors on Clark St.  Spent a lot of time at their home when growing up. I will miss your beautiful smile Lorraine and your entire family, Pino, Deanne, you, Julie and Dino. Fly with the angels.
