Mary A. Falante

San Diego – Mary A Falante passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Mary was 89. Mary was born in Madeira, Portugal an only child and arrived here in San Diego on March 15, 1951. She married Joe R Falante (deceased) on April 8, 1951 where they raised their four children, Odette Virissimo(Robert), Yvette Virissimo (Anthony), Doreen Correia (Lionel, deceased), and Joseph A Falante, deceased (Joan). She had 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Mary was known by her nickname Mimi and always exemplified the best of all virtues; she was loving, kind, compassionate, and loved to sing. Her faith was very important to her and her singing was what she loved to do the most. She sang in the St. Agnes English Choir for over 50 years and the St. Agnes Portuguese Choir. She also enjoyed knitting and crochet and her love of family was evident especially when she was at a gathering or holiday family function. Her love of cooking was something friends and family always looked forward to and especially her cookies. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend. She will be missed by so many but never forgotten as she sings with the choir of Angels in Heaven. Funeral services will be held at her parish of St. Agnes, 1140 Evergreen St. on Tuesday, December 22nd at 9:30 a.m. Rosary and 10:00 a.m. Mass.
