

Merly is survived by her sons Albert Fred and Mark Fred, her daughter Tracy Frances, her daughters-in-law Dovie Canete and Penney Chavez Beltran, her son-in-law Rod Quevedo, her grandchildren Christian, Rion and Ariana and her step-grandchildren Alexandra, William and Lewis.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wilfredo Penaflor Mendoza.
Merly was born on December 19, 1950 in Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental to Martin Villaflores Austria and Anecita Rojas.
She married Wilfredo Mendoza in January of 1971. During 21 years of service as a proud United States Navy Family, they lived in Okinawa, Japan; The Philippines; Hawaii; Florida and California, ultimately settling in San Diego.
During this time, Merly thrived in her career in the banking and financial sector, starting as a bank teller and retiring as a Loan Officer.
Over 50 years of marriage, Merly and Wilfredo welcomed three children and three grandchildren into their home.
Merly will be remembered as a wonderful and loving mother with a beautiful spirit and an uncommon ability to see the positive side of any situation.
She was tireless in her pursuit in providing the best for her family. She took great pleasure in world travel, spending time with friends and family and watching her beloved San Diego Padres.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Mira Mesa.
She will be laid to rest on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 1:15 PM at Miramar Veterans Cemetery, next to her husband of 50 years, at 1:15 PM.
Father Elmer will officiate these activities.
