After graduating from San Dieguito High School he joined the Air Force proudly serving his country for four years. Upon returning home he worked with his father,
Frank McCarty, in the family-owned machine shop in Leucadia. With the passing of his father he lovingly cared for his mother, Dorothy McCarty, until her death
in 2000.
Upon retiring he returned to his home in Carlsbad where he led a simple life, walking the boardwalk, enjoying the sunset, and chatting with neighbors. Michael
was a unique and private person. He loved his family and leaves behind his sister, Betty Cutsinger; brother-in-law, Shannon Cutsinger; nephew, Derek Cutsinger;
niece, Megan (Cutsinger) McKinney. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
