Minas was a distinguished Professor of English at San Diego State University for many years. He was a very proud Hellene and worked tirelessly throughout his life contributing and promoting Greek causes and letters.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Angie Savvas, and his son, Michael Savvas, along with his daughter-in-law, Elideth Savvas. He also leaves behind his brother, Nick Roberts, and his sister-in-law, Margo (John) Prokos, Nephew, Thano (Rosario) Prokos and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son Peter Savvas.
Funeral services will be on August 21, 2025 (Thursday) at 10:30am at the St. Demetrios Orthodox Chapel on the grounds of El Camino Memorial Park (5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121). Burial will take place outside the chapel with Makaria (memorial meal) to follow at the El Camino Memorial Park event space.
