She was born in Abeline, TX in 1938 to Oliver Brooks Jenson, and Mildred Ellen Yantis. She was raised in Barstow, TX and graduated from Barstow High School in 1956. Nancy went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Education from Hardin-Simmons University in 1960.
Nancy started her teaching career in El Paso, TX that same year. It’s there she met her husband of 49 years Carl. They settled in San Diego where she continued a teaching legacy that spanned over 45 years. She served her community via the PTA, Little League, Boy Scouts, and most notably her church. She faithfully served North Park Baptist (now Makers) Church as a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, Deaconess, Board Member/Chair, Care Team member, Prayer Team leader, general member and various other roles seemingly too many to mention for over 60 years.
Nancy will always be remembered as a selfless, caring, and generous person. In her retirement, she loved to spend time with friends and family (especially her grandchildren) and enjoyed traveling. She worked to keep her mind and body active with water aerobics at the YMCA, and educational experiences with Oasis San Diego. She was a life-long learner, read voraciously, and appreciated music and museums.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Carl, and brother Oliver Brooks Jenson.
