On August 3, 2025, at the age of 79, Norma Maxwell passed away peacefully at her family home, surrounded by the love and presence of those she cherished most. Born on August 2, 1946, in Tondo, Manila, to Gregorio Dela Cruz and Fortunata de Jesus, Norma was the eldest daughter of nine siblings. She excelled in her studies at Lyceum College, earning multiple degrees in linguistics, foreign language, and economics.
Norma built a fulfilling career as a financial advisor at Bank of America and Postal Service, all while pursuing her own entrepreneurial ventures. In 1972, she married the love of her life, Clyde Maxwell, and a year later they moved to Panama. Together, they raised two children, Dan and Michelle.
A pillar of her community, Norma’s generosity extended far beyond her own household. She devoted herself to helping the homeless and operated independent living facilities to support those in need. She expressed her love through acts of service—whether through her tireless work ethic or the comfort of her home-cooked meals. Norma believed in building strong foundations, caring for others, and leaving a legacy rooted in love and dedication.
Her spirit lives on through her children, Dan Maxwell and Michelle Webb, and son-in-law Robert Webb; her three grandchildren, Naomi Maxwell, Isaac Webb, and Jaden Webb; and the many relatives and friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde Maxwell.
