Life Summary
She left school early in Vietnam to study tailoring professionally, eventually opening her own shop in Saigon at the age of 20. But after the family reunited in San Diego in May of 1980, she went back to school for 2 years, graduated with an Associate’s degree from Mesa College, San Diego, on May 28, 1983, and worked as an electronic technician until her retirement due to her stroke in 2002.
Following her retirement, she travelled all around the world with her husband, going to see the wilderness of Norway to the delicate architecture of the Sistine Chapel, and at one point, making her way home in Vietnam to eat sweet sticky rice. She even tagged along on a camping trip to Yellowstone with her daughter, Jamie, and her family.
She enjoyed collecting jewelry, writing and singing poetry, and using her amazing voice for karaoke. She loved to cook and eat, making sure everyone was full. She loved her family and each relationship to her was special in its own way. Shortly before she passed, she told her grandson that she lived with no regrets and that her only wish was for her grandchildren’s success. She emphasized the importance of family over material wealth, as reflected in her life
