PHILIP JOSEPH FINEMAN
24 November, 1932 – 19 February, 2020
This week we say goodbye to our dad, Philip Joseph Fineman. He passed on February 19th, 2020 at approximately 5pm.
Phil was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1932 where he was raised by Ukrainian immigrants with his identical twin brother and 2 older brothers.
Phil met his future wife Toby, whom he called "Red" in their Brooklyn Neighborhood. Dad spent 4 years in the Air Force with his twin brother Harold stationed at Salina, KS and Oxford England during the Korean War.
Mom and Dad were married in Brooklyn in 1956. They lived together until Toby passed in 1991.
Dad went out to LA in 1967 to look for work at the behest of our mother. We lived in Chatsworth north of Los Angeles where they built a beautiful custom home and were intimately involved in family, sports and community.
Dad owned his own company, West Coast Dying and Finishing which specialized in various techniques such as stone washing and permanent press. Dad used to go to Puerto Rico and Germany often to buy machines for his business. He made uniforms for the Dodgers and stonewashed jeans for Guess.
After dad retired he moved to San Diego to be near @Mark grandkids in 2003.
Phil was always the life of the party and had a great sense of humor! He was loved by his family and friends around the US and the UK.
His smile will be missed by all of us. Dad was 87.
