Remigio Carreon Quiazon was born in Sapa Libutad, Angeles City, Pampanga, on March 23, 1933. He was raised by Policarpio Calma Quiazon, a Farmer, and Teodora Cataquian Carreon, a Housekeeper. He was the third child out of 9 siblings. Although his family’s main source of income is farming, Remigio has other ambitions. He dreamed of succeeding in the city. During his teen he got a job as a tailor, and he would sew denim pants and dress shirts. However, because of his driven and high achieving mindset, he knew that tailoring wasn’t good enough for him, so he started to seek other employment opportunities. He eventually worked at PASUDECO (Pampanga Sugar Development Company), a sugar refinery located in San Fernando, Pampanga. During his early 20’s, his cousins invited him to a barrio dance party and being a handsome, charming, and attractive bachelor, all ladies would take turns dancing with him. But only one girl stood out from the rest that night and caught his attention. After that night, Remigio fell in love and started courting Eulalia M. Manalo, until they tied the knot and got married on December 29, 1956.
Remigio and Eulalia became to be known as Mr. and Mrs. Quiazon and later was blessed with 5 children: Madonna, Cristina, Rowena, Emerson, and Andrelyn. Madonna was born in 1957, and Cristina in 1958. During their 2 years of marriage, Remigio felt the need to have another job to support his growing family. While working in PASUDECO, Remigio started to look for a second job. With his charismatic personality, he secured a job as a noble firefighter at the Angeles City Fire Department. Every day after his duty or shifts as a fireman, he would then go straight to work at the sugar refinery until the night to support his family.
Remigio and Eulalia had 3 more children: Rowena was born in 1967, Emerson in 1969, and Andrelyn in 1971. While Eulalia worked as a seamstress, (later owning her own shop, “Leling’s Dress Shop”), Remigio worked his way to be a high-ranking firefighter. His determination and motivation have earned him a chance to work for Northup Grumman, an American aerospace and defense company. Then in 1978, while working under Northup Grumman, Remigio stepped on a new journey and worked overseas at an Air Base in Saudi Arabia, training Arabian nationals to combat Firefighting efforts of a newly built airport. While working in Saudi Arabia, his kindness and compassion extend to other OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) as he would pack his lunch share with other Filipino contractors.
In 1985, Remigio embarked onto another journey when he immigrated in the United States of America, thanks to his oldest daughter, Madonna. There he worked at the Scripps Green Hospital, La Jolla California under the Environmental Services Department until his retirement.
Throughout the course of Remigio’s life he gained many friends because of his genuine smile, kindness, and humorous attitude. He was a long-time member of the "Damayan Club of San Diego", a Filipino American community group in Mira Mesa, San Diego CA.
Remigio C. Quiazon is survived by his loving wife, Eulalia, his 5 children and their spouses, (Madonna and Julio, Cristina and Danilo, Rowena and Serafin, Emerson and Olivia, Andrelyn and Marcial) and 13 grandchildren (Eller, Elphia, Francis, Dennis, Earl-Anthony, Ephraim, Kyle, Evander, Julius, Errin, Adam, Ella Mae and Mason) and 4 great grandchildren (Nikki, Euan, Charlie and Kai Saint). He touched many lives with his wisdom and humor. He will be missed and forever remembered.
