Richard Sloan Witherow

Richard Sloan Witherow was born on September 20, 1937, in San Diego, California, to James Phillip Witherow, Jr. and Viola Rose Ryan Witherow. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Josefina Aguiar. Richard entered into eternal rest on March 29, 2026, in Rancho Santa Fe, California.

Richard graduated from San Diego High School and went on to attend the University of Colorado Boulder where he earned his master's degree. He served as CEO of JP Witherow Roofing Company for 28 years and also worked as an accountant for Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical, retiring in 1995.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Witherow; his sister, Barbara J. Witherow Summers; his sister-in-law, Stacy Fisher; his brothers-in-law, Jose Lizarraga and Benjamin Herrera; his cousin, Eve Ryan; and his best friends, Ed and Erica Knowles; and the Starkey and Ryan families. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews who deeply admired and cherished their Uncle Richard.

He was a devoted husband and a deeply loved member of his family. Known for his quick wit, warm sense of humor, and infectious smile, Richard brought joy to those around him.

His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family were the foundation of his life. He was a mentor to many, leaving a lasting and meaningful impact that will not be forgotten. Richard will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Linda, and all who were fortunate to know and love him.
