Robert Alan Cameron

Upon graduation from high school Bob became a permanent employee of Farmers Merchants National Bank after working as a part time employee while in high school. He left the bank to serve in the U.S. Army in Korea.

After his discharge from the military Bob worked as a bank examiner doing much traveling. Through this job Bob learned of an opening in San Diego at First National Bank (now Union Bank) in the trust department. He applied and was hired, remaining for 40 years until retirement making many friends while there.

Bob’s only sibling, Don, died at an early age so Bob was raised mainly as an only child. His marriage to Norma quickly changed that as he inherited her sister and 2 brothers and their families as his own and had great fondness for them all plus a wonderful relationship with Norma's mother Lucia.

Bob and Norma raised 3 children, Todd, Amy and Beth. They very much enjoyed sharing their activities – scouting, fishing trips, traveling, pool parties, slumber parties, etc. Four grandchildren followed as the enjoyment of keeping up with their activities also.

Traveling was a wonderful part of Bob and Norma’s life together. They loved their many trips to Europe, Japan and around the U.S. They were also avid fans of the Padres and Chargers.

Volunteering was a significant part of his life. For 30 years he served as the treasurer on the board of directors for the Civic Youth Orchestra from 1962 to 1992. He also volunteered for many years with the Boy Scouts of America.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, brother Don and wife Norma.
