Robert Rene Fischer of La Jolla and Coronado, California passed away on Monday, April 20th at the age of 86. He was born on July 15, 1939, in Saverne, France and grew up in a small village of Melsheim in the Northeastern region of France with his mother and uncle. In 1971, he was given an opportunity to come to the United States to pursue his dreams. He took that opportunity and brought his wife and two small children settling in San Diego in 1977.
Bobby led a truly blessed life achieving the American dream through his business pursuits in the food and cheese Industry. He reached the pinnacle of success and became a well-known industry leader and entrepreneur. Along with his former business partners, he left a legacy of cheeses and specialty spreads that are known and enjoyed by people throughout the USA, Europe, and other parts of the world. In 2023 he was awarded the “Croix d’Argent” of the Lafayette Order for his contribution to Franco-American relations through his business achievements. A real “foodie” he of course had a passion for great food and wine. In addition, he loved playing golf, snow skiing and music.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Laurance (Lauren), his mother Anne and father George.
They are survived by Olivier, his son and Guylaine, his daughter and his five grandchildren, Sebastien, Nicolas, Jade, Clovis and Maxime.
He was an eternal optimist with a real passion for life, who lit up the room with his warm smile and personality. The family would like to thank Oakmont of Escondido Hills, for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at El Camino Memorial on Sunday May 3rd at 11:00 am.
