As a result of Madlock being my mentor, I have a much deeper understanding of the American Legion. I have learned so much from him that it is difficult to put into words how grateful I have been for his help.
He lived his life to the full and touched so many people during his time here with us.
We all have a Kaleidoscope of memories that we will always carry with us-memories that define Madlock: memories that we will always hold dear.
You will be truely missed.

Madlock, I want to say thank you for all of the advice that you gave me when I was on the E-Board and while I served as the Finance Officer at Post 310.  When things got rough and I was often the only female in the E-Board meetings, you always encouraged me to speak up.  I will miss you dearly on the bus to Phoenix!  Fair winds and following seas and Rest in peace, comrade.

Dearest Robert, We have shared many good times together and some rough ones during our courtship over the years.The best is when the common bond and love we had with American Legion Family and great friends brought us even closer.I wish there was a phone call I can make to Heaven to talk to you again to tell you I will always love you and that I miss you. Uncle Brother, I will always remember your "center stage" and how when you would speak, everyone would listen.  I'll always cherish the times when I would anticipate your arrival back to Kansas City!  You have forever put an imprint on my life. “Madlock” loved the American Legion and will be remembered as the duty expert in Legion principles and practices.  He would often test and challenge other Legionnaires on the customs and courtesies of American Legion history.  But most of all he will be remembered for all the selfless acts he did through his life for his family, veterans and the community.
