A true horseman, Robert "Bob" Homer Williams saw more of California on the back of a horse than most people see in their lifetime. Bob passed away on December 12, 2015, with family, friends, dog and horses nearby. Born August 22, 1938 in La Habra, CA to parents, David Homer Williams and Elizabeth Nichols Williams, Bob moved with his family in 1948 to the Valle Verde ranch in Poway, CA, where his father managed the overall ranch and citrus groves. At that time, their only neighbors in the area were the Daley family, who owned Rancho Bernardo and the Rizzo family who owned the Bernardo Winery. Bob graduated from Escondido High School in 1956 where he excelled at football and wrestling. Bob spent the following year at the University of Wyoming where he also wrestled, then Palomar College where he again excelled at football before finally graduating from the University of Arizona in 1963 with a degree in agricultural economics where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Bob worked for Western Farm Management performing farm and ranch management, then Coldwell Banker Commercial before going into business for himself as a farm and ranch real estate appraiser, performing appraisals on large ranches all over California, Arizona, and New Mexico, often on horseback. Bob thoroughly loved riding horses and the friends, comradery and adventures that came along with riding. He was a member of Ranchers Visitadores and Los Senderos de San Diego horseback riding organizations. Bob is survived by his daughter, Christine W. Nibbelink; son, Steven Williams; and grandchildren, Luke Nibbelink, Megan Nibbelink, Ethan Nibbelink and Weston Homer Williams. Services will be held at 10:00 am on January 2, 2016 at Saint Bartholomew's Church, 16275 Pomerado Rd., Poway, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
