

Roberto Mendoza Soriano at the age of 66 passed away on November 30th, 2016 at the VA Hospital in San Diego, California. He was the husband of Cristina Soriano, which he shared 43 wonderful years of marriage.
He was born on April 6, 1950 in Liozon, Palawig, Zambales, Philippines to Augusto C. Soriano and Rebecca T. Mendoza. He attended Far Eastern University, Manila, Philippines; where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture and was then employed as an Architect in Olongapo City, Philippines. In 1975, he migrated to the United States and in 1976, he enlisted into the United States Navy. He served 26 years in the United States Navy and Marines as a Hospital / Field Corpsman, retiring with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the U.S Navy, he worked 12 years as an Optometrist at the VA Hospital in San Diego, California.
He is a member of St. Gregory the Great Parish in Scripps Ranch. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, playing cards and Majong with his family and friends, repairing his property in National City, finding parts for his Volkswagen Beetle, raising / breeding chickens in the Philippines, gardening and most of all spoiling his grandchildren.
He will be remember as being a great son, brother, father, Lolo, and friend that was loved by many. He was a man with a golden heart and contagious smile that would fill a room. His charismatic personality made people stop and listen to what he had to say. To his grandchildren he will always be the Lolo they have grown to adore and look up to with love.
He lived a great life full of many happy memories. He is survived by his wife Cristina Soriano and family; Robert Soriano Jr., Christine Nevel, Christopher Soriano, Catlyn Soriano, Derek Nevel, Samantha Soriano, Carlo Dean Nevel, Ava Isabella Nevel, Cole Alexander Soriano, Roslyn Marie Soriano, Robert Sarinas Soriano III, and Sloane Audrey Soriano.
The Memorial Service (viewings) will be held on December 6&7 from 4-8pm at El Camino Memorial (5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121). A Funeral Mass will be held on December 7th at 10am at Good Shepard Church (8200 Gold Coast Drive, San Diego, CA 92126). His Burial Service will be held on December 8th at 2pm at the VA Cemetery Miramar (5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122).
