

Rosetta Centino Fernandez, a retired nurse and federal employee from San Diego, CA passed on November 3, 2025 at the age of 78 from complications due to cancer. Rosetta is survived by her husband, Marcelino; her children, Mark, John and Marvin; her grandchildren, Rachel, Madison, Linkin, and Olivia. Rosetta was born in the town of Manaoag in the province of Pangasinan, Philippines on July 8, 1947 to Victor Greaves and Laureana Centino.
After graduating from nursing in the Philippines, she worked abroad as a nurse at General Hospital in Liverpool, England. It was there she married Marcelino, a U.S. Navy sailor on September 23, 1972. From there she continued to work as a nurse as her children were born and her family traveled from Guam, Hawaii, Illinois, Washington and California. It was in San Diego, California where her next career as a federal employee began. She worked at the Naval Medical Center San Diego as a health benefits advisor helping our active duty military and their families. With over 25 years of service she retired in 2023.
Aside from her work, Rosetta enjoyed being active in her local church, Ascension Catholic Church. Her passion of helping people was in her work, church and community whether it was here or abroad.
Rosetta will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00am on December 29th at the El Cajon Mortuary and Cremation Service.
