Sally A. Ledden

Sally Ann (Furnas) Ledden, age 84, of San Diego, passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer on November 20, 2024, while surrounded by her family. She was born on March 28, 1940, in Aurora, Illinois, the daughter of J. Alger and Agnes Furnas.

She graduated from the University of Michigan, Magna Cum Laude in 1962 and was junior Phi Beta Kappa in 1961. Sally was a proud graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law and received a Juris Doctor Degree from the University. She graduated number 2 in her class, Magna Cum Laude and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1980.

She was Deputy City Attorney of San Diego, Dependency Attorney, and later Hearing Officer for the San Diego Superior Court Juvenile Division. She was also an Associate Attorney for Gray, Cary, Ames, & Frye, for Macdonald, Halsted & Laybourn as well as Attorney for Price Club.

Outside of work, Sally was a talented artist and was enthusiastic about Chinese Brush painting. She enjoyed attending the Faculty Club and was a proud supporter of the San Diego Opera. Her warm heart and sense of humor made her a beloved figure in her community, where she was always ready to lend a hand to those in need.

Sally was married to the late Dr. Patrick Ledden, Sr. until his death in 2003. She is survived by her son, Dr. Patrick Ledden Jr., and his wife Cheryl of Andover, Massachusetts; her brother, John, and his wife Christine of San Francisco; and her nephew, Brett, and his wife Stella.

Sally’s family & friends will forever cherish her kindness, her laughter, and the love she shared with all who knew her. She was truly a woman who lived life to the fullest and will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Patrick Ledden UCSD Undergraduate Scholarship Fund, 9500 Gilman Drive, La Jolla CA 92093.

A celebration of Sally’s life will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 10:00 am at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121.
