Badong, as he was affectionately called, proudly served in the US Navy for 20 years. His time in the Navy included World War II and the Korean War. During his “civilian” life, he worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) where many reaped the benefits of his employment! He also was the personal cook for the then, Most Reverend Leo T. Maher, the third Bishop of San Diego. He then went to work for the Whittaker Corp from which he finally retired.
He enjoyed music (Big Band and Jazz, just to name a few), gardening (orchids and roses were among favorite flowers. He also grew tomatoes, ampalaya, and egg plants). Most of all he loved socializing! He often visited neighbors to catch up and share in his recent harvests. He was active in the Bicol club and the Nabuenos. Most of all, he enjoyed and cherished family. He would do anything for family or friends.
Badong was kind, considerate, giving and, ever loyal. We will miss his kind smiling eyes and deep, long ‘sniffs’.
