

Sandra Jean (Laymon) Luebben, age 82, died on Friday, September 19, 2025 peacefully in her home. Sandy was born on May 22, 1943 at Long Beach Naval Hospital in Long Beach, CA. She graduated from George Washington High School in Los Angeles, CA. On October 20, 1962 she married Richard Mark Luebben and they were married for 56 years before his passing on Jan 14, 2019. Sandy is survived by two daughters, Susan Luebben Maddox (George) and Cyndy Naibert (Paul). Her three grandchildren; Kaitlyn Luebben Peterson (Amanda), Greydon Walker (Kelsey) and Andrew Walker. Her step-grandchildren Nevin Naibert and Shanuté Oakley (Gabriel). Great-grandson, Clark Peterson and three step-great-grandchildren; Gage, Sebastian and Sophia Oakley.
Sandy was a Travel Consultant with TEK n Travel and other agencies for many years. Before getting into the travel industry in 1980, she was the owner of Party Time Gift Shop (San Diego). Prior to that she ran the Alvarado Hospital auxiliary gift shop when the hospital opened in 1972. Her family owned Laymon’s Pies and Pastries, the largest commercial bakery in San Diego in the 1980’s.
Sandy made lifetime friends through the many service organizations she was involved with. Recently she was honored by San Diego Woman’s Club Federation for 60 years of service. She had also been a member of Soroptimist San Diego, Exchange Club of San Diego, Tipsters of San Diego and National Charity League. She had served terms as president for many of them.
Sandy was an avid bridge player, playing weekly up until her passing with friends whom she had known for over 60 years. She also enjoyed crafting, sewing, and gardening. Sandy was a beloved soul who touched many lives, and she will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
A funeral service with entombment will be held on Friday October 3, 2025 at Cypress View Mausoleum at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the San Diego Woman’s Club, in memory of Sandra Luebben.
