Scott was born on June 26, 1973 in Tampa, Florida. After graduating high school in Erin, Ontario, Canada, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1994. After completing training at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Georgia, Scott was stationed in Yuma, Arizona for duty as a Marine Corps Warehouse Clerk.
Scott was honorably discharged in 1998 and re-entered service in the Marine Corps in 2001 as a Corporal. During this time he changed his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) to a Field Radio Operator. After completing training, Scott was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, Comm Company, 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California. In 2003, Scott deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) where he was a member of a logistics support convoy team that ran supplies from Kuwait to Iraq. In 2004, Scott was promoted to Sergeant and again deployed overseas to Camp Blue Diamond in Ramadi, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) where he worked in the Command Operation Center (COC). After returning from Iraq in 2005, Scott was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps.
After Scott left the Marine Corps he moved back to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and worked in the tourism industry while completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He was later hired by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in 2010 and worked for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as an Assistant Investigative Specialist. While at DHS/ICE, he obtained his Master’s Degree in Business Administration and was later promoted to Mission Support Specialist.
Scott was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. A natural-born athlete, Scott enjoyed playing baseball (He was selected to play for the Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins Minor League Baseball teams), golf, tennis, ping-pong, swimming and football where he would often be heard saying, “Come on, let’s play. I promise I’ll take it easy on you!” Those who accepted his challenge often found themselves on the losing end. Nevertheless, he loved his family and friends and found the greatest joy spending time with them.
Scott was an inspiration towards everyone he met. Scott had a strong sense of justice towards those who needed help. He did not like to see others being oppressed and taken advantage of. Whether it was a stranger or a close friend, he fought for and supported them. He was also an advocate for healthy living, often speaking out against issues that impacted the lives of individuals in the community. A strong proponent for holistic health and wellness, Scott often shared this knowledge with others to restore and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Finally, he had a strong faith which sustained him in his most difficult times. His faith in God was real and unwavering and was manifested in daily prayer, fellowship, and Bible reading.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Grace Mendoza Brown; his mother, Penny Williams; and brothers, Sean Brown and Steven Brown and their families.
“I love the Lord because He has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because He inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call on Him as long as I live.” - Psalm 116:1-2
