Sharon and I met sixty-one years ago in Ventura and after 18 months we were married on April 10, 1965. From the beginning she was a dedicated and wonderful wife. She tried hard to please and while she was an average cook in the beginning, she developed into a great cook so totally focused on pleasing the family.  She supported me in all things that I did and those I tried to do. She was always alongside. We had three wonderful children, and the family was always her focus in all things. When the children were into sports, she was there making countless trips to the baseball fields - she liked to keep score for the teams - the swim team, soccer etc. When the grandchildren were old enough, she did it all over again with their sports. She was always alongside. She put up with my antics involving moving the family to Europe twice and my many trips out of the country where she had to take over family details. And she was always alongside. Our relationship was strong, and we made all our life decisions together. While I am missing her terribly, the support of our children and grandchildren during this time has been indispensable. She left an indelible mark on so many people who will also miss her.

It’s been a few weeks that I haven’t talked to you, and I don’t know how I’m gonna get along without talking to you. I’m just processing how life is going to be without you and it seems so sad, however I know you would like me to get through this and be strong for dad and Emily. I so love you Momma, I know you’re resting well. I saw you in my dreams last night, You were climbing some stairs with no cane or help with a big smile on your face. You had a beautiful red shirt on and you looked so happy! I know that was your meeting in heaven

This is a hard one! Sharon Barta will so very much missed in our daily lives, I met Sharon 35 yrs. ago when I started dating her daughter Cindy and she welcomed me into her family.  She was funny, always had something to say, and was a warm person.  Sharon along with John helped Cindy and I raise two beautiful and wonderful Children, often sacrificing her time and love to be sure that her grandchildren got the best.  I learned so much about being a good family man and father from Sharon and John, honesty, family comes first, perseverance, and how to have fun.  Sunday dinners will never be the same for me, I promise not to let John play Jubilee Rummy only Aggravation rummy.  This is not a Farwell but a see you later.  Until we meet again. Ms Sharon, I love you. You know this, but I’ll say this here- thank you for having me for holidays, new years, and birthdays for the past few years.  You made me feel as one of the family, and I am forever grateful for that. I’ll miss you and catching up in the living room. Please know that I’ll think of you and keep your memory well. Rest easy, we love you.

I guess my best memory with Sharon was an incident during our time in Belgium. The Bartas were scheduled to relocate back to the US and their move was in progress. John and Jason had gone off in the little BMW (not sure why) and Sharon and I were sitting on the front step waiting for them to come back. The movers had left, the cleaner is finishing or gone and there is no sign of John and Jason. As we’re sitting there waiting, Sharon says “OMG, there they are, John thinks he’s MacGyver” and here comes the little BMW with John hanging out the front driver window with a cord leading from his hand to the hood of the engine that’s propped open with a Coke can. And Jason is in the passenger seat with a “I’m so proud of my Dad” expression on his face. Sharon & I laughed until we had tears running down our faces. She always said the two of them together would always come out on top.

This memory is from Christmas this past year; in England, we put Christmas Crackers on the table and we all get a paper crown to wear; Vix brought us some from the UK to try at our San Diego Christmas. Whoever wears the crown the longest wins! I think grandma was the winner. Later we played Rummy and laughed until our faces were sore. This was an amazing Christmas.

I’m going to miss you so much! You were my best friend! We had so many wonderful conversations together and I can’t even imagine that you have gone. So today Ems and Vix came over from London! They hugged Dad so hard and Kai  was here too. Kai brought you flowers from her and her awesome boyfriend Jake, And they brought cookies!!!!
