Spencer William Rhuben Richardson, also known as “Spinner”, “Spen”, “Brother Unit”, and “Son”, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 21 on December 12, 2021 at around 3:00 AM. Spencer was living in San Diego, California at the time with his mom and stepfather, in a scenic home that overlooked the bay, including an incredible view of the city from the balcony. The family does not wish to disclose the cause of death at the moment, but it is important to know that he was at peace, and spent his last hours receiving love and comfort from his Mother.
Spencer was born on May 30, 2000 in Roseburg Oregon at Mercy Hospital. It was a beautiful Tuesday morning at 6:32 AM, when he was welcomed into the world by his loving parents, Subrina and Travis. He was their second child, but only son. Spencer considered Oregon to be his home, but he had the privilege of living in Colorado, Nevada, and California throughout his life as well. He was mostly raised in Aurora, Colorado, alongside his older sister, in a beautiful home with a large backyard. It was here that a lot of his fondest childhood memories took place. Spencer was very active, and involved in multiple sports and activities. His favorites were baseball, hockey, piano and guitar. During the summers as a child Spencer would visit his dad in Roseburg, Oregon. It was there that he realized his love for the outdoors through camping, fishing, and hunting, and looked forward to each new adventure.
Growing up, Spencer found his favorite hobby; video games. It began after playing Zelda on his father's N64, and progressed into him eventually building his own gaming computers. Spencer had hundreds of games, and made many amazing friends from all around the world by playing online. He often had his scores displayed on leaderboards, and was skilled, committed, and competitive. Spencer was very smart, he liked to understand how everything worked, which led to him finding his interest in mechanics after working with his father at Phoenix Hydraulics in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. This experience helped open more opportunities, and he eventually worked at Tarett Engineering while he lived in Henderson, Nevada, where he assembled racing parts for cars. Finally, he landed at Eddy Pump in El Cajon, California, where he learned to operate some heavy equipment, and test large pumps that were built for the Navy. His coworkers loved his company and sense of humor, and even created a memorial sticker in his honor that they placed on his toolbox, along with some of his favorite snacks he'd bring to work. Spencer had plans of going to school to pursue an education in engineering, and had dreams of eventually running his own company.
Even at a young age it was obvious that Spencer had a kind, loving heart. He loved animals, and had a Bearded Dragon named Stanley, a dog named Biscuit, and a senior cat named Matthew at the time of his passing. Spencer was selfless, and often gave away his prized possessions to those he loved, just to make them happy. He always put everyone else's needs above his own, and preferred to do it in silence, as he did not care whether or not he got recognition. He strived to make people laugh, and had such a unique sense of humor. Above all else, Spencer loved his family very much, and enjoyed being around them any chance he could get. He is loved, and will be greatly missed, but we can be at peace knowing that he is with the Lord in Heaven, and we will get to see him again.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (Matthew 5:4)
