

Susan E. Calderone of San Diego, CA entered into eternal peace suddenly, yet peacefully on June 4th, 2017. She leaves her beloved son Miles Calderone, her mother Josephine “Dolly” Mostowski of Glastonbury, CT, as well a sisters, Victoria Walling and her husband Joseph of Vernon CT, Christine Goldsnider of New Port Richey, FL, Laura Visone of Glastonbury, CT, and Ann-Marie Katzer and her wife Kim of Tolland, CT. She was predeceased by her father, Thomas Katzer. Susan also leaves behind her uncle, William Katzer of South Windsor, along with several nieces and nephews; Jeffery Goldsnider, Alicia Brown, Thomas Fabrizio, John Walling, Ashley Hosig, Madelyn, Jacob and Joshua Katzer, as well as many close friends throughout the US. She made a lasting connection with so many of her colleagues at work and throughout the state of California. Susan was employed as a Senior Enrollment Counselor with Ashford University for the past 7 years. Born in Hartford, CT, Susan grew up in Wethersfield, CT and went on to attended Keene State College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. While successfully and raising her son, Susan went on to earn her Masters of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology at Ashford University in 2015. Susan arrived in San Diego California in the fall of 1986, and made North County, San Diego her first home - residing in the cities of Oceanside, La Costa and the city of her deepest passion, Carlsbad. Susan spent over a decade working as a Director at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. She worked tirelessly to build the community spirit with local residents and businesses, and one of her greatest accomplishments while there, was to help bring Lego Land Park to the city of Carlsbad. Susan loved life and created a unique imprint wherever she was. She was completely devoted to the care, education, and upbringing of her son Miles and was front-and-center at all of his basketball, football,Lacrosse , and school activities, and took him everywhere - Padres, Chargers, beaches, hiking, the movies. She created spur-of-moment pool parties, Halloween Parties, and made every holiday and occasion memorable and exciting for all. Susan will be greatly missed by all that she touched, all that she lived for, and all that she had yet to accomplish. On behalf of the wonderful community of family and friends, a Celebration of Life was held on June 7th, hosted by her best friends Tiffany Duncan and her husband David, in San Diego, CA. A memorial service will also be held in CT, at a near-future date, and we send out the details as they are coordinated.
