Born to Limaila Asofa Fanua and Salamasina Ioelu Siatu'u Fanua in Aunu'u, America Samoa.
Mom came to San Diego in 1958 at the age of 4. She attended Our Lady of Angels Catholic School from kindergarten to 9th grade. Mom graduated from Lincoln High School. After high school mom worked as a receptionist of a cleaners for a couple of years. From there mom moved to work for North Island Naval Base. There she worked in the Aircraft department for 10 years. Mom moved to Samoa for about 10 years, there she was a very, very hard worker. Well she always has been she worked for a Bank of Samoa, Bank of Hawaii and Samoa Camp. Mom's last job before she moved back home to care for her parents, our grandparents, she was an executive assistant to Dr. Lyons. Mom had a very decorative life full of so much RESPECT for her parent's aunts, uncles, and anyone whom she ever came in contact. Mom moved back here to San Diego in 1994. She was an executive assistant at the Bachelor's House on North Island Navy Base where she had to retire with 25/30 years of service for the Civil Service because of her kidney disease.
Our mom was our most beautiful Queen, whom has taught us the meaning of GOD first, family and everything else will fall in place. She was a fighter that fought till her very last breathe. She had such a bright and loving smile that greeted each and every one that has ever come across our beautiful "Mommy." Mom leaves behind to cherish her memory five children, one deceased and twelve grandchildren, who we will all missed her very much.
Mom's heart was her dad Limaila Fanua, she loved being with her daddy every single day and drove him around or even just to sit next to him at church and wait to play bingo, one of mom's favorite hobbies. Mom would travel on the MTS, bus, or however she could get around, to enjoy herself and live life.
Mom was a very dependable lady of God. She held her position as Secretary Treasure for the 1st Samoan Congregational Church of National City for many years. Even through mom's sickness and pain, mom would move heaven and earth to make sure everything for the church was taken care of. She loved church, she love to sing her heart out, and loved God. She loved being around her kids and grandchildren especially her Ladainian Asofa "Pepe" Tafilele. They had an inseparable, one of a kind grandma and grandson relationship. Pepe could do no wrong.
Mom's final two months of her life were spent with our dear sister. She was with mom 24 hours a day and during this time they built a very special mother-daughter bond. This time spent together, I know my sister will always cherish.
There are no words that could ever express the amount of love we have for our Mom. We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to you all for showing your love and support to our mom.
