It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Reverend Ying-Chhi Kuo (郭應啟牧師), who was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 23, 2023. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Jane Kuo, wife of 62 years and the beloved mother of their four children and eight grandchildren. Reverend Kuo was a dedicated and faithful pastor who served his community with love and compassion. He was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Born and raised in Taiwan, Reverend Kuo studied in the United States where he received both Bachelor and Master of Divinity degrees from The San Francisco Theological Seminary (1962, 1972), Master of Theology from Westminster Theological Seminary (1963), and returning to Taiwan and receiving Bachelor of Education degree from National Cheng-Chi University in Taipei Taiwan (1965). Reverend Kuo served as professor and chaplain, and Dean of Academic Affairs at Tamsui Institute of Business Administration from 1965 to 1977. After immigrating with his family to the United States in 1977, Reverend Kuo planted and served as pastor in several churches in California, Texas, and Oregon.
Rev. Kuo was preceded in heaven by his wife Jane Kuo, parents Rev. Ho-Lieh and Yu-Lan Kuo, sisters Rev. Lily Wang and Rose Lin, and brother Ying-Ming Kuo. He is survived by his sisters Mary Wang and Ruby Reed, brother Rev. Ying-Yan Kuo, and children Grace Kuo and Mark Christy of Amarillo, TX; Alice and Matt Turlington of Richardson, TX; Simon and Stacy Kuo of Carlsbad, CA, and Anna and Bryan Broussard of Austin, TX. 8 Grandchildren: Daniel, Sarah, and Catherine Turlington; Ethan and Noah Kuo; Alex, Madeline, and Michael Keist.
Reverend Kuo was a man of great faith and integrity, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. We take comfort in the knowledge that he is now rejoicing and reunited with his beloved wife in the presence of our Lord.
