

Marie Therese Lee, a cherished mother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, at the age of 103. She was born on May 29, 1921, in San Francisco along with her siblings Louis, Barbara, Joseph, and Virginia.
Marie was a proud graduate of St. Mary's Chinese Mission School, Galileo High School and San Francisco Community College. After completing her education, she dedicated 21 years of her life as an executive assistant with the Internal Revenue Service, retiring at the age of 62.
Marie married Jack Wong Lee, and together they raised their son, Randy Lee. Her family was always her greatest joy, and she will be deeply missed by her son, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were fortunate to know her love, wisdom and bundle of energy. She was known to say, “If I can do it, you can do it”.
A woman of many passions, Marie found joy in painting and spent countless hours in the art room at the Sequoias retirement community . Music also played a special role in her life. She had a beautiful voice and performed as a singer at the famous Forbidden City on Grant Avenue in San Francisco, a memory she cherished throughout her life. Marie was also a dedicated supporter of the arts, including KQED, where she championed the importance of creativity and cultural expression.
Marie’s legacy of kindness, love for the arts, and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She is now at peace, but her memory will be fondly remembered and treasured by all who were touched by her vibrant spirit.
A private service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to KQED or a charity of your choice. Lastly, the family extends their heart felt thanks to Sequoia Living retirement community for their wonderful care to Marie.
Rest in peace, Marie. You will be greatly missed.
