Tom burst into the world in April, 1956, the only son to Viv and Tom in The Bronx, N.Y.. Raised by an extended Irish Catholic family of storytellers, he carried that legacy with him to Cardinal Spellman High before graduating from San Francisco State with a Creative Writing major.
As a citizen of the world, Tom was passionate about travel and found beauty in both nature and the world of art. He founded O’Connor & Associates Art Advisors and collaborated with top interior designers to bring this passion into the homes, businesses, and lives of others. He was loved in the fine art community, and constant in his dedication to clients, friends and family.
An aggressive cancer left him with too little time, but he was able to reflect on his life, which he loved and lived on his own terms. He was ready “to leave this worn out body” and curious to see what came next. He leaves behind his beloved partner Andy Schanbacher, adoring sisters Eileen Marrone, Patty O’Connor, and Maura Costello; nieces and nephews Chris, Jenny, Brigid, Kevin, Megan, Tara, Beck and Rosie and a fan club of many friends. We often heard Tommy’s big laugh before he entered a room: today, he would want us to dry our eyes and toast him with champagne and cake.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.sanfranciscocolumbarium.com for the O'Connor family.
