Elvira “Vera” Flaco Alarcon, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the heart of her family, passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was 95. Born on July 6, 1930, in Los Angeles to Clothilde and Hilario Flaco, Vera married the love of her life, Gilroy Joseph Alarcon, in 1952. Together they raised six children and shared 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2012.
A devoted homemaker and gifted cook, she was known for her Friday family meals, her “famous” cinnamon rolls, and her deep commitment to her children and grandchildren.
Vera’s faith and kindness guided her life. She was active at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, volunteered at the parish school, and built family traditions—especially Christmas Eve gatherings—that remain her lasting legacy.
She is survived by her six children: Judy Macias; Mark Alarcon and his wife, Marylou; Gilroy Alarcon and his wife, Gloria; David Alarcon and his wife, Dorinne; Diane Escobedo and her husband, Rick; and Debbie Corona and her husband, Henry. She also leaves behind 25 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever cherish her memory.
