Frank Ortiz Jr. was born to Frank and Carmen Ortiz in Gallup, New Mexico on November 28, 1923. He was raised in Gallup with four sisters and one brother. Graduated from high school and joined the United States Navy in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1948. After serving during WWII he moved to Los Angeles where he met the love of his life Frances Pena. Frank and Frances married at the Aloha Wedding Chapel in Long Beach, California on July 4, 1959. Their family grew fast as they adopted five children, Carmen, Vera, Benny, Ronnie and Lonnie. After settling in Artesia, California they were blessed with nine grandchildren, Danny, Tommy, Gregory, Jennifer, Elysse, Carmen, Alyssa, Nicole and Arynne. Five great grandchildren, Clarissa, Israel, Danny Jr., Asa and Mariam. Countless nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors who they welcomed into their life and treated them as their own children. After working for M&T Chemicals as a purchasing agent for thirty years he retired in 1985. After retirement he found part time jobs to keep himself busy. He continued to work until age 80 then retired completely from the workforce. His hobbies then became cooking, baking and spending time with his wife and grandchildren. His house was never lonely. Just about every grandchild lived with him at one point or another and he wouldn’t have it any other way. On January 29, 2017 he passed while at home with his family by his side. The love he had for his family is too great to measure. He will be missed by all and always remembered.
