Isaura was born and raised in Cuba and immigrated to the US in 1962, with her two children, having to be separated from her husband due to the political upheaval at the time. She would be reunited with him 22 months later.
The family moved to Seattle, WA in October, 1963 being the first Cuban family to be sponsored by the Christian Reformed Church during the relocation programs initiated by the Catholic League.
In 1966, the family moved to Alhambra, CA, where she resided until her passing.
She had a long and successful career as a Housekeeping Supervisor at Garfield Hospital in Monterey Park, CA and Ormco in San Dimas, CA.
She was a fantastic cook of Cuban food and loved having her entire family over for legendary Saturday night dinners along with extravagant Noche Buena dinners each December 24.
Isaura was preceded in death by her husband of 50 wonderful years, Orlando Duran (Papi) and by her brother, Oscar Pérez.
Isaura leaves behind her son, Orlando Duran, Jr, daughter, Dania Duran, brother Carlos García (Mayra), daughters-in-law Linda Richards and Darcy Duran, son-in-law Tim Thompson (Elaine), grandchildren, Orlando E Duran (Jaime), Tim Thompson, Jr, Amber Reeves (Eric), Brandon Duran along with great-granddaughters Angelica and Sarah Duran, Alexis and Abigail Thompson plus many other loving nieces, nephews and primos y primas.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 10 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Covina Hills, CA at 9:30am. She will be laid to rest next to the love of her life, Orlando--a great love affair that comes full circle.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Pacifica Senior Living and Calstro Hospice Care. Their loving and compassionate care during the last months of her life was a true blessing.
