

Abel Villareal Talamantez, age 80, of San Jose, passed away on July 13, 2024. He was born on March 26, 1944, in Crystal City, Texas, to Enriqueta Villareal Talamantez and Conrado Talamantez. His family moved to San Jose during his childhood, where he spent most of his years.
After high school, he joined the Army, serving his country with honor. Following his military service, he worked as an auto technician. In the last decade of his life, he provided support and maintenance for residents at a senior apartment complex.
Abel met his wife, Maria Garza Talamantez, at a dancehall in San Jose. They married on October 9, 1965. In 1973, they welcomed their son, Abel Garza Talamantez. Abel Sr. is survived by his wife loving wife Maria, his son Abel, daughter-in-law Rachel, grandson Gabriel Talamantez, his siblings and many nieces and nephews.
Abel had a profound love for life and enjoyed spending time at "The Ranch" with friends in South County. He was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying kindness and generosity in all his actions.
Abel Sr. will be remembered for always willing to lend a helping hand, his commitment to his family, and his enjoyment of the peaceful things in life. As private a person as he was, he did enjoy helping people and was always looking out for others. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
A mass will be held for family and friends at St. Leo's Church in San Jose on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate Abel's life and legacy.
