

Alonzo Garza passed from this life held in the love his wife of over sixty years, Feliz, and their three children, Robert, Yvonne and James. Alonzo was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who lived a proud and rich life that included military service in the Korean Way from 1950-52.
Alonzo came to the Valley of Heart's Delight from Del Rio, Texas, where he was born to Senovio and Marina Garza. He worked at Pratt Low Cannery before retiring from FMC Technologies. One of Alonzo's proudest accomplishments was earning his high school diploma before his children were grown.
Alonzo and Feliz met at the Rainbow Ballroom in downtown San Jose where they courted before marrying in 1954 at holy Family Church on river Street, Alonzo and Feliz bought a home and settled in Santa Clara where they raised their three children and lived into retirement.
Family was the heart of Alonzo. The family gathered at the dinner table every night and weekends were filled with visits to relatives. After work, Alonzo could be found at Washington and Central parks watching his boys play baseball. Alonzo never missed a game, even if it meant arriving into work early so that he could attend games in Palo Alto and beyond. His daughter, Yvonne, was his "one and only" princess whom he treasured. Proudly, Alonzo provided for his family and extended family his entire life.
Alonzo loved to fish at night along the Delta, taking in the cool breezes. On weekends he would load the car and take his family camping. His favorite pastime was playing cards at Garden City, going back to the card club's original location in downtown San Jose.
In his later years, Alonzo was a proud grandfather who nurtured and adored his four granddaughters. He attended this school productions and sporting events with great enthusiasm and shared proud stories of his family, language and culture,
Alonzo is survived by his wife, Feliz, and his children and their families: Robert Garza (Jennifer Andaluz: granddaughters Magdalena and Liliana), Yvonne Garza (Bob Padilla) and James Garza (Shelly Garza; granddaughters Lisee and Tahlia).
The family extends and invitation to attend the Rosary Vigil at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel in San Jose at 7pm on Friday, June 5 and Funeral Mass at St. Justin's Church in Santa Clara at 11am on Saturday, June 6, followed by a committal service at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
