July 24, 1934 – June 26, 2024
Angie was born to Belmira and Manuel Freitas in San Jose, CA. She was the youngest of five children.
On June 12, 1954, just shy of her 20th birthday, she married Arthur Rodrigues. During the next nine years, they proceeded to fill their house and lives with seven children, including a set of twins.
On June 8th of this year, Art and Angie held a wonderful celebration for their 70th anniversary with a large gathering of friends and family.
Angie is survived by Art, sons Dave (Mary), Don (Kelley), Darryl (Nikki) and Dan (Lisa), and daughters Debbie (Mic) and Denise (Bob). She was preceded in death by daughter Diane.
Art and Angie owned A & A Auto Service in San Jose, where they worked together for over 50 years. She managed the office and kept the books. At some point, all their kids worked there as well, with Dave eventually taking over the business.
Angie was multi-talented. She was a competitive water skier, enjoying this sport into her early 70’s. In addition to competing all over the United States, she trained to be a scorer and was the chief scorer at several regional tournaments. She and Art loved the years they spent with the Santa Clara Water Ski Club, where they made many life-long friends. Angie also enjoyed running during her younger years, completing several 10Ks and a couple of half-marathons. Always ready for an adventure with her family, she traveled the country, camped, rode motorcycles and unicycles, explored, hiked, and danced her way through life. She was also an amazing homemaker, skilled in cooking for a small army, knitting and crocheting afghans for all her children, and always welcoming countless guests into their home.
Angie pursued many interests through the years, including playing the piano, bowling, reading, completing crossword puzzles, and going to the casino. She also loved fashion and would never say no to a trip to Macy’s!
Angie’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nothing made her happier than having all of her family around her. At last count, there were 13 grandkids and 13 great-grandkids.
Angie was an incredible woman and will be remembered for her beautiful spirit, generous heart, and positive attitude. She also possessed a wonderful sense of humor, and amazing patience and strength. Having her in our lives was such a joy and a privilege. Her immense influence will be with us for the rest of our lives, and we will forever carry her in our hearts. Words cannot truly express how much we will miss her.
