Tony was born on the island of Guam on July 12, 1935. In 1956, he moved to California to be with his junior and high school sweetheart Eugenia “Virginia” Borja, who had left the island with her family two years prior. The couple wed on July 14, 1956, and remained happily married for more than 54 years.
His most cherished pastime was being with family and friends. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, laughing with relatives over meals and delivering assorted treats or handpicked fruits to friends. His kindness and generosity extended to all forms of life, officially and unofficially adopting stray animals who sorely needed love and care. Tony was also an avid watcher of movies and television, never failing to get excited when a favorite show came on. He took pleasure from the small joys in life and sought to spread his good cheer to his community and church.
Tony is survived by his wife, Virginia, his daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Phillip; his son and daughter-in-law, Adrian and Cindy; grandchildren Brandon, Wesley, Jessica, Christopher, Natalie and Trevor; his brothers Juan, Jesus and Joe; his sisters-in-law Rita, Dot and Kat; his sisters Maria and Ann; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial service will be held at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park (300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, CA 95125) from 10am to 12pm on Thursday, February 17, 2011.
