Brian, we met nearly 20 years ago. It never crossed my mind our friendship would grow the way it did.  I am sure going to miss your random phone calls, just to ask me how I am doing, or the inside jokes we had that still had us laughing years later.  I always admired how generous you were with your time and how amazing of a Father you were.  My heart goes out to Katerina and Mikey. The pride for your children and the love you have for them was so apparent every time you happily bragged about them.  I pray your family will find peace among this tragedy and their hearts full of love and the fondest of memories with you. You left a lasting impression on every life you touched, and I will think of you often. Love you brother!

To the family of Brian, his kids Katarina and Michael, I am so very sorry to learn of his passing. Brian was a wonderful human with the heart of gold. He and I became very good friends a few years ago, and both leaned on one another during some dark times. He was always one to give the best advice, the love he had for his kids was beautiful and it showed through the way he engaged with them. Always abundant laughs, and the hugs they so willingly gave one another was what every child should experience. He shared so many things with me, the love of his mom, his sister, his grandma and extended family. He certainly was proud of the Marquez name. Though he was a Raiders fan, and I a Broncos fan, we meshed perfectly and were best friends. My son and Brian would talk often, lots of banter, even a bet which Brian lost and had to wear a Broncos jersey at one point.  Never a dull moment! Brian, I hope to God you are enjoying your new life, free from everything but love, caring, beauty and perfect health. You have no idea how much you blessed me with your friendship, from just telling me I can do it, to you helping me pack up and til the last minute before the uber got to my house, you were so positive about Elijah and my move to Texas. You poured it into me, telling me it was the best thing I could do, you kept telling me not to cry and just be happy. Until we meet again, I will cherish our jokes, the memories (Santa Cruz, Chilaquiles, the toe jokes and so many great times) It's not goodbye, but until we meet again....I love you my dude, my only male best friend, watch over us and..please, put in the request to keep the gates open for me  please!
