Columba Merida Tuyor

Columba was the second to the eldest of 8 children to Teofilo and Asuncion Merida.

She leaves behind her younger brother Aristides Merida and Quinta Quimbo

Columba Tuyor was 94 years old and lived in San Jose, Ca

when she was received into God’s loving arms.

Columba was born in Pintuyan Leyte, Philppines on September 17, 1926. She attended high school in Leyte, Philippines and continued her college education in Cebu City Dumaguete and met the love of her life, Julian Tuyor. Columba was married to Julian in 1944 till his passing in 1994.

Columba received a BS at San Carlos University in Bachelor of Science, in Education and was a High School teacher for 1 year.

Soon after, they had their first-born child, Julius in 1948. She then decided to care for her children full-time. From then they had Gonzalo, Socorro, Elizabeth, Ester (Cherry), Maria Asuncion (Sunshine), Leilani, and Hernanie.

Columba was the to relocate to the United States in 1985. She was very strong and independent. After the passing of her husband, Julian in 1994, she found her own apartment. She took the bus to go to church, grocery shopping, and to play bingo. As she got older her children, grandchildren, and even her eldest great grandchild took her to do what she loved the most, play BINGO.

Columba is survived by her 6 children: Gonzalo Tuyor, Socorro Samarro, Elizabeth Maddatu, Ester Doctor, Hernanie Tuyor, Leilani Lopez
