Mr. Dinh Van Le was born on June 12 1927 in Hanoi, Vietnam, third in a family of six siblings. He went to Truong Buoi School and graduated from Law School. He practiced law and later became a military judge. In early 1953, he married Tuyen (Hien) T. Quach.
Shortly thereafter, he came to Saigon and started raising his family there. They had their first son, Quan who was followed by his brothers and sisters: Khoi, Khanh Hoai, Phi, Khanh Phuong and Bich Cau (aka Tchiu).
He joined the casualty and property insurance industry and worked his way up to executive rank of the company VAR (Vietnam Insurance & Re-Insurance). During his years at VAR, he was able to travel throughout Asia and made many important contacts with insurance executives in Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Singapore. The experience of travel was to be one of many passions which later took him to many countries in Europe, various states in the USA and exotic places like Egypt, Malaysia and China.
After leaving Vietnam in 1975, he settled his family in San Jose, CA and a year later, he moved to France joining the French re-insurance company (SAFR) and lived in Paris for over 30 years. While still working, he pursued his life-long passion - painting landscapes - and took it up full-time after he retired in 1992. He composed many of his landscapes from the wonderful scenes available around Paris and Provence. In 2005, he indulged himself with the purchase of a small gallery in the Latin Quarter of Paris to display and sell some of his paintings. In his last year, he took up painting portraits.
While in France, he was able to often see daughter Phuong Khanh and her family in Montpellier, and to make annual trips to the USA to see the rest of his kids and grandkids.
Besides travel, the arts, gardening, Dinh fully embraced the good life: gastronomy, fine wines, all types of music, films, theater, and loved to share everything with family and friends. He was always seeking to expand his learning and experience, loved modern gadgets, and in recent years was fascinated by digital photography, imaging and the internet. Dinh's love of all things natural and beautiful in life is only matched by his love for his family and friends. He will missed by all.
