Donald R. Childs

Donald R. Childs Sr, beloved husband of Margaret "Peg" Childs,passed peacefully in his home on Tuesday 28 August after an extended illness. He was known as Don to his family and friends, and was a long term resident of San Jose. He was born in W. Springfield Mass and married Peg, the love and light of his life, in May of 1945. After leaving Springfield, they lived in Alabama and Florida before moving to California in 1961. Don had a long and fruitful career at Lockheed retiring in 1992. Don and Peg loved to travel. While they travelled extensively through Europe, Don's favorite trips were to see his extended family and friends in Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, So. California, Maine and England. Don is survived by his wife Margaret, hia children Don, Jr and wife Cathy, Priscilla and husband Bob Leitch, Charlie and wife Kathy Childs, Cynthia Childs, Liz and husband Kent Childs-Nehring, Kathy and husband Eddie Sieu, Mary Childs, Doug Fee, and Matthew Childs. His extended family includes 15 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing Sunday, 2 September from 1:00 to 4:00 with a rosary at 4:00 o'clock at Lima Erickson Mortuary and Chapel, 710 Willow St, San Jose. Funeral Services will be Monday 3 September at 10:30 at St Julie's Church on the corner of Cottle Road and Curie Drive. Donations to the American Heart Foundation are requested in lieu of flowers.
