Elsa was born in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, on April 1st, 1925 to Ramon Vazquez Orengo and Maria Figueroa Irizarry. Elsa would be the first of 16 children. Elsa married Angel Cotti Torres and soon moved to Buffalo New York where they raised an eventual family of eight, 6 boys and 2 girls. Early on Elsa would endure the heartache only a mother feels when her eldest son then, David, passed from leukemia at the age of 3. In1963, Elsa and Angel packed up their family of seven and moved to San Francisco. There they established the “Spanish Evangelistic Center”, a small church in the Mission District where all of their children were raised. In San Francisco, Elsa would also be blessed with her last and youngest child. In 1970, Elsa and Angel moved their family of eight to San Jose. For the past eight years, Elsa was blessed to live with her son Angel, her primary care giver, thereby allowing her the wish of living out her days in the home she loved, but as Angel would say, he was the one that was blessed.
For all her adult life, Elsa was proud to be a mother and a homemaker. A deeply Christian woman, by example and by deeds, Elsa would instill in her family the values of living by the golden rule. She also took pride in being a church elder. Being the wife of the pastor, “Hermana Cotti” would spend countless hours praying and counseling her church family as she would her own, knowing that she could not fix anyone’s problems only promising they would not face them alone.
Besides her eldest son David, Elsa was preceded by her loving husband Angel, December 17th, 1993 and dear son Joseph Anthony Cotti, December 11th, 2016. Elsa is survived by her son Daniel (Sharon P.
