Heaven gained another angel on February 5, 2023 when Enrique Robles passed away. Enrique was a true warrior and fought hard during his battle with Lung Cancer.
Enrique also known as “Ike”, was born on July 8, 1947 in Manila, Philippines. Enrique was the second oldest among his 4 siblings. His siblings describe him as one of the hardest working person they knew, who helped his family through hard times when they were growing up.
While still in the Philippines and working at Philippines Global Communication, he met the love of his life Lydia. They went on to get married in 1974 and were with each other through all life’s ups and downs for 48 years. Enrique and Lydia had 2 children, Mary Kristine and Raymond. Enrique was a wonderful and devoted husband and father. He always taught the value of working hard and being grateful for what life brings you. Enrique was the type of man that would pick up a penny off the ground, save it, and splurge on something that would bring joy to the family. One of Ike’s purchases was a surround system to play Enrique and Lydia’s favorite song, so they could dance to it.
Enrique did not have any interest traveling after retiring, like a lot of other people. He preferred to stay at home with Lydia and enjoy the little things in life. He was a man that enjoyed the fruits of his labor and the world he built around himself with family, friends an most importantly the love of his life Lydia!
One of the things he always looked forward to, was Popeye' Tuesday special and get his fill of fried chicken during his lunch date with Lydia. Home Depot was another one of his favorite places to go. Whether it was to get supplies for the latest project around the house or getting ready for gardening season. Let’s be honest he enjoyed planting Lydia’s favorite flowers and preparing the soil for her spring garden. He was also a huge fan of Costco, especially the Costco ads. He would walk every aisle while holding hands with Lydia and looking for the sample carts. No cart went unsampled on his watch.
Enrique’s last word on this earth was “mag-ingat ka lagi” meaning always take care. He would always say it at the end of every phone call or when it was time to part after visiting him. He was always looking after his kids even though they are grown up and with their own families. He always made sure he had food for them to take home and say “mag-ingat ka lagi” as they left.
Enrique is now enjoying all of his favorite foods, crispy pata, steak, camaron resbosado and sweet dessert such as halo halo and leche flan in heaven with his parents Theodore and Arsenia Robles. He is survived by his wife Lydia; his children Mary Kristine and Raymond; his sibling Fely Augstin, Luis Robles, and Tony Robles.
