Dear Friends & Family Of Gene Mendoza,

I realize I don't have to tell anyone who knew Gene, how amazing he was.  He was such a kind sole, who made an enormous difference in my life. He was a wonderful mentor to me.   He saw things in me, that few did.  Our relationship began as Supervisor and subordinate, but became good friends away from work.  God Bless, Gene Mendoza he's sorely missed, but always alive in our hearts and memories.

Growing up at the end of Kelly Lane, we only had one next-door neighbor: Gene and Inez. I have so many wonderful childhood memories of exploring their pond, Inez besting my brother, Jason, and me at Nintendo, and playing with their cats. I will always remember stopping by their house as a little kid on Halloween, and Gene and Inez had a bowl of candy just for Jason and me, so we could have the experience of trick-or-treating in our own neighborhood. Gene's kindness, sense of humor, and presence will be missed on Kelly Lane. Sending love to Inez and the entire Mendoza family from me, my husband Ben, and our baby Jane. 

We are very sorry about Gene’s passing.  This is a heartfelt loss to our community, and for all things good.  We have known Gene for 36 years.  The first day we moved in, he rode his tractor mower over to our new home, just to introduce himself and offer his help.  We cannot recall one single time that we met—incidentally on the road, during a holiday, cars passing on Denio—that he didn’t start the conversation with a touch of humor and a quick laugh.  He impressed our children.  Gene loved Inez and all of his children very much—this was evident in our conversations and his actions.  Our family honors Gene for his service to our country.  We wish there were more Gene’s in the world.  We will miss him.

We was well-loved and will be forever missed. My heart is with all of my  West Coast Mendoza family.
