Laling, as she is fondly called, was born on August 26, 1927 in General Trias, Cavite. She was the 4th child of 6 children of Eladio Garcia, a farmer, and Maura Aron, a hilot ng bayan, or the town's midwife.
Laling married the handsome and charming Eleodoro ‘Doring' Gange from Iloilo. They lived in Sangandaan, Caloocan City where they raised their 5 children – Pol, Ruben, George, Jean and Elvira.
Early on in their marriage, Laling completed a Cosmetology course at the Cosmopolitan Colleges in Santa Cruz, Manila. However, she chose to care for her brood instead, only doing hair upon special request, which benefitted the family, especially her children. She also managed to contribute to the family income by raising chickens and pigs to sell at the local market.
Hand in hand with Doring, who worked for the government, they were able to ensure that all their children completed a tertiary education.
In 1979, the couple migrated to the US and lived temporarily with Doring’s loving sister Perla, her husband Mig, and their wonderful family in Daly City, California.
They later moved to the South Bay, where Doring worked with the State of California while Laling worked in the electronics assembly industry for several years, until she decided to help care for her grandchildren fulltime, a job she believed was far more important and fulfilling for her.
Laling was a soft-spoken woman who always had kind words for anyone she encountered. She loved spending time with her family, and is blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who have all felt her love and dedication across 3 continents – in Asia, Australia and North America.
A woman of deep faith, Laling was a very religious woman and you could guarantee that her rosary would always be found close by.
On Friday, 11th of June 2021, Laling was admitted to the hospital with difficulty in breathing and was eventually diagnosed with pneumonia. Four days later at 9:35am, the 15th of June 2021, she joined our Creator peacefully in her sleep, where she joins Doring in heaven.
Laling leaves behind 5 children, who are all married, 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving younger sister Luzviminda Garcia Miole, from Taguig, Metro Manila.
Forever in our hearts…
