Felicisima Ballelos

With heartfelt sadness, the family of Felicisima Sierra Ballelos announces her passing at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California, on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 15:08 pm, and at the age of 77.

On September 12, 1940 and in San Juan Kalayaan, Laguna, Philippines, she was born to Juan Leyes Sierra (from Antipolo, Rizal) and Valeriana Madrazo Austria (from San Juan Kalayaan, Laguna).

Known to family and friends as 'Fely', she is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mr. Rogelio Lainez Ballelos, their two children; Miss Felinda Sierra Ballelos and Mr. Rogelio Sierra Ballelos, Jr, along with his wife Lindsey Luo. Mrs. Ballelos is also survived by the loving community of St. Victor Catholic Church in San Jose, California and countless relatives.

Fely worked for 33 years as a registered nurse. She served as Second Lieutenant in the Army medical reserve team as an operating room Scrub One nurse for almost two years at V. Luna Hospital in Manila, Philippines. She was recruited among five nurses to go abroad for free at Leiden University Medical Center in Leiden, Netherlands, where she learned how to speak Dutch. She once performed a group Filipino folk dance at the Philippines Embassy in Da Hague, Netherlands. She worked at Lady Minto Hospital in Ashcroft, British Columbia, Canada; Lake Taylor Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia; and finally Agnews State Hospital in Santa Clara, California.

She will be missed by long-time friends and kind strangers she met along the way. She loved to dance to her favorite waltzes with her spouse Roger, listen to Filipino Kundiman music, attend daily masses, cook, clean, garden, sew clothes, embroider baby pillows, counsel the distressed, and share her inspirational thoughts and wisdoms.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 21, 2018, from 9 am to 9 pm, with 7pm Rosary service, and Wednesday, August 22, 2018, from 8 to 10 am, followed by 10 am funeral at St. Victor Catholic Church and 11 am burial services at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park in San Jose, California.
