

Gene Yaeko Sakuda passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on January 12, 1931 in Helper, Utah to Taneto and Mine Moriyama, Gene lived a long and full life defined by love, family, and friendship.
Gene was married to Michael Mikio Sakuda, for 60 wonderful years until his passing in 2013. Together, they shared countless adventures traveling and enjoyed many fun-filled trips to the casino.
Gene spent 50 years with Coast Counties Peterbilt in San Jose, CA, where her dedication, integrity, and work ethic became the foundation of countless lasting relationships. She brought warmth, professionalism, and a steady hand to every day, becoming an irreplaceable part of the company’s history.
In 2020, Gene transitioned to Atria Foster Square Assisted Living in Foster City, CA, where she quickly became a beloved member of the community. She could be found participating in workout classes, attending community events, and greeting everyone she met with her signature smile. Her gracious presence and kind heart left a lasting impression on residents and staff alike.
Gene was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Allen Sakuda of Turlock, CA; her daughter, Susan Kanaya (Duane) of Hillsborough, CA; granddaughters Stevee Sakuda Machado (Marc), Candace Sakuda, Kristin Kanaya, and Jordyn Kanaya; and great-grandchildren Quinn Yaeko Machado and Crew Sakuda Machado. Gene’s family and friends will remember her for her warmth, joy, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed.
A private family memorial service will be held.
In lieu of flowers or koden, the family suggests donations to San Jose Yu-Ai Kai or San Jose Buddhist Betsuin.
