

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James Marquez, 78, of San Jose, CA, on March 5, 2025. Born on December 22, 1946, in Dallas, TX, to Richard and Irene Marquez, he grew up in Watsonville and Mountain View, CA.
Jim was a proud graduate of Mountain View High School and San Jose State University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War before earning his teaching credential. He worked at Graham Middle School, was a school bus driver and later had a successful career in distribution.
A dedicated coach for 60 years, Jim coached youth sports, including Pop Warner football, Little League baseball, and West Valley Bobby Sox. He also coached at Del Mar and Westmont High Schools, leaving a lasting impact on countless young athletes.
Jim survived by his wife of 55 years, Maureen. Children, Janna (Hector) and Shannon (Luis); grandchildren Matthew, Seryna, Dominic, Sidney, and Hunter; siblings Rudy, Joann, and Brenda. He was preceded in death by his son Robert; grandchildren Patrick and Savanna; his parents Richard and Irene Marquez; siblings Robert, Wallace, William, Armida, and Carmen.
A celebration of life will be held in a few weeks, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to [Charity or Organization, if desired].
