Jesusa Reyes Merencillo

Note: The following obituary was prepared and written by Jesusa Merencillo before her stroke and before her passing. Our family would like to share her obituary in her own words below:

Jesusa Vinuya Reyes Merencillo also known as "Susie" for her nickname, was born on October 23, 1949 in Manila Philippines and spent 25 years there. She began her residency in San Jose, California, USA after finishing her degree as an Elementary School Teacher at the Philippine Normal College in 1971. She furthered her career in graduate school at Centro Escolar University (CEU) in Manila Philippines as Master of Arts in Anthropology and Sociology, and taught at CEU in the Elementary Department for six years.

Seeking better fortunes, Susie went to the United States of America in 1975 and began working in Silicon Valley at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) for a distinguished 10 years as a Quality Assurance Inspector, Customer Liaison, and Supervisor. She moved on to her career in 1986 to work for the Federal Government, Department of Defense Logistics Agency, and Department of Defense Management Command that services military contracts of the U.S. Airforce, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Marine Corps. She was stationed at Lockheed Martin Space System Company in Mountain View, California, where she retired her professional career as a Quality Insurance Specialist in Electronics and Mechanical Fields of specialty working within the U.S. Space Satellite and Communication systems for over 35 years.

Susie was happily married to Honorio Serva Merencillo and together they lived in San Jose, California for 29 years and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. They had three beloved children: Michael Allan, Melissa Ann, and Martin Julian.

Susie is a very funny woman, with her humorous gestures, stories and love for her family will forever be remembered. She is survived by her children, her sisters Philda, Fe, Rosie and her brothers Emerson and Alfonso Jr., and numerous uncles, aunties, cousins, nephews and nieces, and life long friends.
