Joan Josephine Spiteri

Joan Josephine Spiteri, age 91, of San Jose, California passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2023. She was born in Zabbar, Malta on April 16th, 1932, Giovanna Grech. She was one of 11 children of Carmelo & Maryanne Grech. In 1953 she immigrated to Canada and married Joseph Spiteri in Queens, New York on October 30, 1953. They lived in Ontario, Canada until 1965 and moved to Massachusetts and then to San Jose, California in 1974. She was a devoted and loving wife to Joseph Spiteri for 59 years before his passing on September 6th, 2012.

She was a loving and kind person who always had a smile. She dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and prided herself in keeping her home clean and organized. Her life was full of adventures, world travel and numerous family moves in support of her husband's career. When her husband retired in 1989 they traveled the world and enjoyed over 25 cruises together.

She is survived by her youngest son Robert, caring daughter in-law Caroline and two beautiful grandchildren Lauren and Bryan who she was very proud of and loved so much in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Her oldest son Richard Spiteri passed in 1999 too soon.

A Mass will be held at St Francis of Assisi Church at 5111 San Felipe Road at 10:30 on Wednesday. May 24th followed by a burial service at Oak Hill Cemetery.
