

Louis August Pasquali passed away peacefully on September 3,2012, just two weeks before his 94th birthday. He was born in Coalgate, Oklahoma on September 17 of 1918, the oldest of seven children of August and Katy Pasquali . He grew up as a farmer and merchant. He attended University of Oklahoma for two years before returning home to marry Edith Paris and run the family store. They were married July 24, 1938, and their first child, Carolyn was born December 12, 1940.
In 1941 Lou was drafted, joined the Navy, and was stationed in Corona,Ca. Edith and Carolyn joined him there. After the war he returned to Coalgate to sell the store and moved to San Jose with his family and his brothers and sisters to join their father August who had moved there during the war. Lou and his brothers opened Deluxe Market on Bascom and Naglee in San Jose in 1946. Son Larry was born May 31, 1947. The children grew and the store prospered. Lou ran the meat and deli. Many family members and relatives worked in the store. These were many good years for the family. In 1962 Lou and his brothers sold the store. They opened two liquor stores and managed them until 1979.
In 1962 Lou and family joined La Rinconada Country Club and took up golf. Wife Edith became club champion and Lou became club President in 1985. They enjoyed many happy years golfing together. During those years they also cared for ill and disabled family members and Lou volunteered at Martha's Kitchen. Lou lovingly cared for Edith in her final years. He lost her in 2006. They had been married 68 years. In his final years he was lovingly cared for by his daughter Carolyn.
Lou was proud father of daughter Carolyn Parkinson, son Larry, grandfather of Todd, Chris, and Andrew Parkinson, Ted, Greg, and Laurel Pasquali. Great grandfather of Mathew, Jenifer, Olivia,Juliet,Adrian, Katelyn, Nicholas, and Brooke. He is survived by brother Jim and wife AvaNell, sister Doris Sharkey, sister Bruna Mello and husband Henry, sister Peggy Shirar, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lou will be missed by all but happy to be reunited with his beloved Edith.
