IN THE CARE OF

Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Lucy Serrano Echeverria, 86, who resided in Danville for 35 years, passed away at her Rancho Cordova home on December 4, 2020 from congestive heart failure. She died peacefully surrounded by her immediate family up until her last breath.

The visitation and funeral service will be held on Friday, December 18th at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA with social distancing guidelines in place at the outdoor Grace Chapel. Father Mark Ruiz of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church will be officiating. Interment to follow at the Grandview Lawn at Oak Hill.

Lucy was born in Abilene, Texas on March 19, 1934. Her family moved to California in 1947 where she graduated from Lincoln High School in San Jose. Lucy was married to Jose M. Echeverria on March 20, 1959; they were married 61 years.

Lucy was a classy, glamourous lady who always dressed to impress. Lucy worked as a salesperson in many antique stores at various times over 45 years and would forever continue her hobby of collecting “Treasures”. She loved staying in touch with her family and many friends, collecting beautiful antiques, and dancing to her favorite songs. She had an incredible memory. She showed her proud Mexican roots by being actively involved in the International Women’s Club and starting the Fun American Club with her husband.

Lucy is survived by her husband Josemaria and her five children: Pamela Randolph of Fremont, Rosanna Echeverria of Rancho Cordova, Jessica Ocenosak (husband Dave) of Rancho Cordova, Camille Vernick of Concord and Antonio Echeverria of Oakland. She had seven grandchildren: Sean, Jeremy, Nicole, Kevin, Miranda, Derek and Garrett. She (Abuelita) had nine great-grandchildren: Emmily, Kieran, Ian, Anten, Aela, Milo, Evelyn, Caden and Ada. She is survived by sister-in-law Alice Serrano as well as many nieces and nephews. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and thirteen brothers and sisters.

Her family will lovingly remember her presence as a strong-willed woman who fiercely loved her family and enjoyed countless reunions and pool parties. Without Lucy, there will forever be an emptiness in our hearts and souls.

Rest in peace beautiful lady, “You did it your way".”.
